Survey – SE Ethiopia

A recent caves and rocksheltersarchaeological survey in southeastern Ethiopia has documented dozens of caves and rock shelters containing archaeological remains that includes pastoral paintings, paleolithic remains (fauna and lithic), and more other types or prehistoric records. A majority of the sites were identified and described by prior researchers in the region, while the survey project added a few more sites mainly in the western portion of the study area. The WEB APPLICATION: shows spatial distribution of the sites, viewable using the different on-line GIS basemaps. Other useful features, such as site searching, content query are also included. The geoprocessing tool provide viewshed distances at user specified intervals.
